Sightseeing In Managua

Sightseeing in Managua is one of the best activities that you can opt for once you visit Nicaragua, one of the important countries in America. Old Cathedral of Managua:
The cathedral was built in the year 1920 and is one of the best cathedrals in Nicaragua. In the year 1972, the cathedral was heavily damaged because of an earthquake. After the earthquake a cathedral was built but restoration of the old cathedral was also started. The renovation is still going on.





Historical Center of Managua:
The actual Historical Center of Managua was damaged and heavily destroyed in the earthquake of 1972. The new Historical Center of Managua is situated closer to Lago de Managua.

Ruben Dario National Theater:
This is the most important and famous theater of not only Managua but also of Nicaragua. This theater is also considered as one of the modern theaters of Central America as well. This theater was also destroyed during the earthquake of 1972. In this theater a large number of concerts, exhibitions, cultural performances, as well as shows are held. Various national and international artists come here to perform.

National Palace of Culture:
This building is considered to be one of the excellent buildings of Nicaragua. In the year 1935, the building was built by President of Nicaragua, Juan Bautista Sacasa. This building is a storehouse of history of Nicaragua. This building has been used as a government office for many years. There is a library as well as a National Museum. Here you can find a large number of ceramic items, statues, paintings and many other things. This is one of the important places for sightseeing in Managua.

Museum of Achahualinca:
This is an important museum of Managua as well as the whole of Nicaragua. Here you can find fossilized Paleo Indian footprints. These footprints were engraved in the volcanic ash around 600 years ago. When you go for sightseeing in Managua, do not miss this!
