History of Canada

Canada is inhabited by more than 32 million people and they occupy a major portion of the northern part of the continent of North American. Canada is the second largest federal country in the whole world. This place used to be occupied for thousand years by the ethnic people of the land and later on the the people, belonging to the, groups of Inuit and Metis ruled the land of Canada. In the history of Canada they have hugely exaggerated their influence. But the modern day Canada has evolved from the multicultural federation, made by the British and French people. The 17 th Century is very crucial while discussing the evolution of the Canada. During this time the contemporary government of France did send a group of settlers to Canada but the land was liberated by the British and later on they started to dominate the inhabitants of Canada until 20 th Century when this nation attained its full freedom.

In the constitutional history of Canada, the Quebec Act, 1774 played one of the most important roles. Under the terms, propounded by the Act, the Quebec boundaries were expanded up to the Ohio River valley. The Roman Catholic church received proper affiliation under the Quebec Act, and it also started to assert its power upon the inhabitants of the land. British criminal received full fledged effect in all matters, dealing with public law and order. If the offense is proved on behalf of the alleged, the punishment might be fine, imprisonment, or in certain cases, even death. With this particular Act, the colonial forces tried to put a ban over the emerging rebellious forces. The War of 1812 also has a great influence over the development of the history of Canada.

Throughout the whole world, the two Great Wars created an havoc and Canada also was tremendously affected by the World War I and World War II. During these two wars, this country suffered tremendously and faced a loss of huge number of human resources. After the war was over, Canada became one of the honorable members of the United Nations and in the year 1949, it registered itself as the member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The year 1965 is extremely significant in the history of the Canada because in this year the nation for the first time raised its official national flag which was adopted too by the Parliament of Canada.
