Climate of Belize

In simple words, the climate of Belize can be described as sub-tropical climate. The hot season is distinctly marked from the cold season. Belize receives adequate amount of rainfall all throughout the year. The climatic conditions of Belize promotes it to be a agriculture based country.

Monthly pattern of climate of Belize are as follows:

January: January is the month for the north-east tradewinds. This month is marked by rain-free climate of Belize. It is mainly the season for harvest and maturation of crops.



February: February is marked by light showers. Otherwise dry trade winds blow all throughout the day. This is the best time to visit Belize.

March: The climate of Belize in the month of March is similar to the month of February.

April: This month marks the begin of monsoons in Belize. Heavy showers are accompanied by thunder storms.

May: Thunderstorms can be seen on a daily basis in the month of May. The convention currents are mainly the reason behind the thunderstorms.

June: On an average, Belize receives 24 inches of rainfall in the month of June. Abundant showers are accompanied by abundant sunshine. This is the reason why this month is best suited for sowing to begin an agricultural year.

July: July is also the rainy season in Belize. However there is a remarkable reduction in the amount of downpour received during this time.

August: The climate of Belize in the month of August is perfect for the growing of citrus fruits. Generally dry winds blow over the area during this time.

September: This is the season for harvesting early crops like beans and maize. The weather becomes cooler in the month of September. The amount of rainfall reduces drastically and chilly dry winds blow over the region.

October: The northern dry winds blow during this month with practically no rainfall. This is also the time when there are a lot of grass fires in Belize.

November: November is marked by winter season in Belize. The weather become cool and dry. In fact this is the best time to visit Belize.

December: December month is marked by retreating northern winds and the arrival of eastern winds.
